Somehow the day had passed in a flurry, and far faster than I ever wanted it to. My insides twisted every single time I thought about the way Emily spoke about her mother, and how hurt she was by the things that she had done. I wanted to rip the pain away from her and cradle her against my body, telling her that everything would be okay, but I didn’t. I stopped myself because the damage had already been done. The pain and hate had been there for a lot longer than I had been around, and there was no banishing it. As much as I wanted to save Emily from herself, I couldn’t be the one to do it.

Instead I focused on the things that I could do. For instance, I could love her and show her how much I cared about her and our children. I could cherish her and prove just how good of a mother she would be.

We lounged around my house all day and spent most of the afternoon doing some online shopping for various things for the babies, including gender neutral clothing, diapers, wipes, various bottles, and copious amounts blankets and stuffed animals that Emily wanted to use to decorate their room. I made dinner, and we snuggled together on the couch for the remainder of the night. She lolled off into a deep sleep and I took her into my bedroom and placed her in my giant ass bad, covering her with the comforter. I wanted to scream from the rooftops that I finally had her in my bed, our bed. I kept my mouth shut though, quietly tucking her in and making my way out into the living room where I would be spending the rest of the night.

The urge to go to her and kiss every single inch of her skin until she was begging me to stop was strong as fuck but I held my ground. I didn’t want to be that guy, especially when I had just gotten her to warm up to me enough to come over to my house. I wanted to keep her here, not send her running for the hills. Therefore, my cock and the desires I had to unravel her would have to wait for another time.

I fluffed my pillow and slammed down on the couch, pulling a blanket off from the back of the couch. The same blanket that Emily had used earlier today when she complained that she was cold, only to later say she was too hot.

I brought it up to my nose. It smelled just like her, like warmth and pleasure, and fuck I wanted to fuck her and was it not weird that I was sniffing a blanket that she laid with earlier? I was completely consumed with everything that was Emily.

Forcing myself to stay put in the living room I tossed and turned for hours, my mind refusing to shut off. Every time I closed my eyes I saw Emily, and every time I blinked them open I wanted to get up and go check on her.
